Resilient design, Modernist approach

Tailoring Wood Creations LLC is a Los Angeles-based, architecture studio creating award-winning homes with intention and care that are built to last.

Richard Estrada brings over two decades of leadership in bespoke woodworking and high-end residential construction. With a hands-on approach, he oversees project direction, client relations, budgeting, and schedule adherence while maintaining direct involvement in design review and quality control. His background combines formal architectural training with practical trade experience, enabling clear communication between designers, craftsmen, and clients. He emphasizes precision, material integrity, and sustainable practices, and holds certifications in project management and safety compliance.

The team supporting him includes a curated network of contractors and architects chosen for their expertise, reliability, and shared commitment to craftsmanship:

  • Project Managers: Coordinate day-to-day site operations, manage subcontractor schedules, monitor budgets, and provide regular client updates.

  • Lead Craftsmen and Carpenters: Skilled woodworkers responsible for joinery, millwork, custom cabinetry, and finishing.

  • Finish Specialists: Handle staining, sealing, polishing, and installation of hardware.

  • Structural and Systems Contractors: Licensed professionals in framing, electrical, plumbing, and HVAC who ensure the project meets code requirements and integrates seamlessly with custom wood elements.

  • Architects and Design Partners: Provide conceptual and technical design, create detailed construction documents, and guide material selection and detailing. They work closely with the managing partner to balance aesthetic goals, structural requirements, and budget constraints.

  • Engineers and Specialty Consultants: Structural, civil, and environmental engineers, along with acoustical and lighting consultants when required, who validate designs and supply precise specifications for complex or unusual conditions.

  • Procurement and Logistics Coordinators: Manage sourcing of wood, hardware, and specialty materials; coordinate deliveries; and maintain inventory to prevent delays. They prioritize responsibly sourced materials and long-lead items.

  • Quality Assurance and Safety Officers: Conduct site inspections, enforce safety protocols, and perform final quality checks against project specifications and client expectations.

Being based in Southern California, we have an intimate understanding of the landscape, culture, and codes to create architecture that feels both timeless and distinctly at home.
